הרבי לימד שכל אחד יכול וצריך להיות קשור לצדיק הדור, ועל ידי ההתקשרות נמשכים כוחות מיוחדים בעבודת ה', בשמחה, באמונה ובביטחון. כאשר אדם מבקש ברכה מהרבי מתוך אמונה, מוסיף בתורה, בתפילה, צדקה ובמעשים טובים, הוא פותח את עצמו לקבלת שפע וסייעתא דשמיא מלמעלה.
הקשר עם הרבי אינו רק בקשת ברכות בעת צרה, אלא דרך חיים. לימוד תורתו, קיום מבצעיו והליכה בדרכיו מאפשרים לכל אחד לקבל השראה, כוח והכוונה בכל יום מחדש. כך הופכת ברכתו של הרבי לכוח חי ופועל המלווה את האדם בכל תחומי חייו.
כפי שהרבי עצמו הדגיש פעמים רבות, הצינור לקבלת ברכות הוא הוספה בפועל בתורה, בתפילה ובמעשים טובים ובמיוחד באהבת ישראל. כאשר אדם מתחזק בעניינים אלו, הוא נעשה כלי לקבלת הברכות והשפע שהקב"ה משפיע באמצעות הרבי.
